Myth vs. Reality
We all think we are doing our best to avoid getting infected by the COVID virus. But are we really? Is that even possible given how contagious and fast-spreading it is? Let’s have a look at this fictitious tale and then you can tell me if this is so far fetched.
Friday
7am — I leave my house daily to walk my dog. I unlatch the neighborhood dog park gate. My dog runs around for a while then does his business. I touch the public garbage lid to throw away the poop baggie. We cross the street and I push the button at the cross-walk. I brush the hair out of my eyes without thinking.
9am — I leave my house and stop to get gas. I touch the pump with my hand. I type in my PIN code with my bare fingers. I push open the gas station door, then the cooler to grab a drink, then I hand my card to the cashier. I type in my PIN code again and ask him for cash back. He hands me a twenty. Then I itch my nose, touch the store door again, touch my car door, and touch my steering wheel. I remember to put on some hand sanitizer but I only put it onto my palms.
9:30am — I go to the grocery store to get supplies. I wait outside in a line while an employee controls how many people go inside at once. The man in front of me suddenly steps back and…
