Are You Addicted to Your Phone?

Admit it. You carry your phone with you everywhere, don’t you? Mea culpa. Ask a person which items they never leave home without and phone would likely be number 2 after keys, even before wallet.

We are mobile. We get work done from coffee shops, from our couch, and even on the beach.

But this mobility comes at a price. We are rarely unplugged.

Social media logins and scrollings become a habit. Who knows? Maybe since 1 minute ago, there are new comments on your post, lol:))

We’ve lost the art of human conversation. Teens communicate with texting, Tiktok, and emojis.

Car rides, commutes, even in restaurants you see couples together yet cyber miles apart on their phones.

Studies have shown what happens inside the brain when we use our phones. Dopamine is addictive and we can crave it. Increased usage of social media has also been linked to increased depression.

My reminder to you all is to regularly unplug. A few ideas:

1. Install an app to track and limit your usage.

2. Put a timer on your phone how long you budget to spend on social media and stick to it.

3. Use Boomerang app for Gmail to protect your Inbox while you do deep work.
