BETTER AT WORK: Great Leadership Starts with Kindness

If you want to know if someone is a good leader, don’t ask his or her direct entourage as they are maybe afraid for their job security or trying to pleasure him for their own career advancement.

And certainly don’t ask him or her directly!

Instead, ask the people his people manage. The lower down in the company pay chain, the better you can evaluate the success of his management.

If it is a restaurant, ask the bus boy.

If it is a factory, ask the assembly line worker.

For great leaders ask their drivers, cooks, nannies, gardeners, and housekeepers.

If you are in any position of power, ask yourself what people would say about you when they thought you would not find out or have consequences.

No need to pay fancy coaches or business consultants. Your employees would be more than happy to say what you are doing wrong.

Listen to them and treat them with respect or else they will be telling it to your competitor instead of helping you.

Let that be the best measurement tool for your leadership.
