You may have heard about the French paradox. Scientists are baffled by the mystery of the French diet. The French seem to eat whatever they want and not gain weight. In fact, obesity is quite rare in France. And the word ‘diet’ is just as rare.
Growing up French-American, I had enough first-hand observations of both cultures and one of the main differences was in regards to food.
While my American relatives were overweight and always on diets, my French family was thin and indulged in cheeses, wine, chocolate, and french bread called ‘baguette’. Oh, and did I mention the pastries? Yes, French food is a dream!
So let me explain in a nutshell the secrets of the French paradox for you so that regardless of your location and heritage, you too can eat well, enjoy, and not ever worry about weight gain again.
1/ Follow the French Meal Rules. Basically from birth, you are raised to eat three square meals per day and when you eat them and what you eat is well-defined. While dishes may vary by region, the French are quite conservative when it comes to how, when, and what to eat. Just do what they do and you will stay thin!
