Five Content Mistakes
That will kill your brand
As a Marketer for 20 years, I’ve seen it all. Content is king yet so many miss the mark. I know there are tons of guides on content marketing but few really tell it how it is. That’s where this article comes in. I am going to be brutally honest about what I see as the compilation of cardinal sins. Please note when I say “you” I’m generalizing as if I were speaking to a client during a consultation.
Mistake Nr. 1: Fluff
No one understands what you do. Your stuff is basic vanilla, boring, nothing interesting nor unique. Your content is too long, too technical, or too complicated. You stay too high-level and never connect with your audience. You throw out big terms like “Leadership”, “Success”, and “Mindset” without going deeper. They have the feeling they have seen the same content before, maybe even from multiple people. You use a lot of quotes and references because you don’t have anything proprietary to say. You have no personal stories on this topic. It is like a “copy/paste” feeling. Nothing you say moves people nor is memorable. Readers have heard it all before. Go deeper, please!
Mistake Nr. 2: Spam
Why, just why do people NOT stop spamming? It isn’t hard to get sales. Yet, I see this mistake daily. It is everywhere.
