The French Way of Eating Well While Staying Slim
An Honest Comparison of Eating Habits Between French and American Cultures
I grew up Franco-American so I observed my whole life the extreme differences between the French and the Americans when it came to nutrition and weight.
For the French, staying fit was effortless. None of my French family suffered from obesity or knew what a diet was. In fact, they ate a lot of fat: fatty meats, plenty of bread and pastries, wine, and mountains of chocolate.
In my American family, it was exactly the opposite: everyone was obsessed with dieting and weight loss. They would buy fat-free foods, nutrition bars, protein smoothies, and diet drinks, and spend hundreds of dollars on weight loss programs to torture themselves over and over again.
My conclusion is this: Follow the French if you want to never diet again but follow the American way if you want to get overweight.
I’ve put together a list of habits my American family had to always be overweight (they were true experts so you can trust me). The more items you check off, the more weight you will put on. As you can imagine, doing the opposite will result in healthy weight maintenance.
