If Social Media Is So Bad, Why Did It Save My Mental Health?

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, so there is no better day to discuss this loaded topic: social media.

I regularly see stories in the news warning about social media, saying it is harmful for mental health. Just search on Google for “The Dangers of Social Media” and you will find 109,000,000 results. Some of these dangers include cyberbullying, addiction, anti-social behaviors, and depression. The advice is always the same: reduce your phone or device usage, or else.

While I truly believe social media should be dosed, especially in teens, I’m the proof of the benefits of it. Without social media, I don’t know what would have happened to me last year.

Last year, 2020, was rough, really rough.
