Ode To Time
Time: my friend, my enemy.
My entire life I have loved and hated you.
When you gave me snow days, long Summer days with my friends, trips across the world, meetings with my love, and time to watch my children grow, I loved you.
When you took away my grandparents and more recently my dad, and kept COVID-19 ravishing the world for over a year, making it impossible to go see my older kids across the Ocean and separating me from everyone, giving me an endless Winter where I shivered every night, I hated you.
But one thing I know for certain is that I do my best daily to master you.
In the mornings, I have awoken countless times to watch the sunrise, while giving a gratitude prayer to the universe for another say on this Planet.
I notice the little things. I live in the quiet moments, sipping my coffee in the mornings, listening to the birds chirp and the peace of the Earth waking up, knowing that on the other sides of the planet time is taking them along different paths.
No one can escape Time.
I try hard to make the most of my time in this life. I know how fast time is whipping by and that the sunrises are numbered. I am grateful to have made it this far.
I look in the mirror and whisper my age. I smile and wonder how many more years I have.
I know you won’t answer me so I’ll defy you by making the most out of each and every day.
