The Rise of the Bropreneurs
Is the hustle culture out of control?

In the past few years, social media has become overrun with “bropreneurs”. Just go onto YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook where you are sure to see one of their ads, promising outrageous gains if you only take their course or buy their e-book. These ads are aimed at making people working a 9-to-5 job for average pay envious as hell. Your conclusion should be: Why continue accepting a normal life instead of becoming ridiculously rich without a diploma and pretty quickly?
Selling The Get-Rich-Quick Dream
These solopreneurs often show themselves in front of luxury sports cars or even on private jets. They are mostly male Caucasians with built bodies, stylish clothes, and often have a very attractive young woman (or two) on their arm as eye candy. Most are under 40. Their message is clear: “Buy from me in order to become like me.” Their ads are aimed at younger men between the ages of 22 and 35 who are making less than 50,000 USD$ annually, probably lonely, broke, and single and basically miserable with their lives.
Their sales methods work. A slew of them has made it to the top. And they are training thousands of others to sell just like them.
Teaching Students How to Manipulate Others
What are they selling exactly? They teach psychologic tricks of persuasion, how to speak to the innermost dreams of their targets, how to create an irresistible desire, a sense of urgency, manipulation, and a promise of an easy, quick fix to all of their problems.
A Cult-Like Loyalty
These bropreneur “gurus” are worshipped like Gods and operate a lot like a cult. A few of the top leaders have annual conferences with attendance anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 people for tickets running between 500 USD$ and 10,000 USD$ per person. They even form exclusive “member-only” secret society groups that resemble fraternities except for the hefty join fee and annual dues to belong. Members are encouraged to terminate or at least distance themselves from friends outside of the circle because only insiders have “the wealth mindset” and will “drag you down”.
