Waiting for the Reckoning

Photo by jean wimmerlin on Unsplash

The guilt, the pain, and the twisted feelings swell and swell like an old wound that has scabbed over without ever truly healing

It forms an ugly boil on the heart, purple and deformed, pulsating and angry

You continue your daily routines, but you are always aware of its presence

The sharpness is gone and you have gotten used to the permanent pain
