WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COMMUNITY DURING A PANDEMIC

It is March 2020 and a worldwide pandemic is happening with the rapid spreading of the corona virus. Schools are closed. People are working from home. There is even a travel ban issued in many countries, including mine, the USA. Large gatherings are not permitted. The general advisory is to stay home. It is frightening when we feel so much is unknown and out of our control. Besides taking care of yourself, here are a few ways you can get involved to be part of the solution and not the problem.
1/ Call your family members and make sure everyone is ok. The gesture will lift their moods and show that you care. Be sure not to create more worry but to provide comfort.
2/ Look out for elderly in your neighborhood, knock, and ask if they need anything from the store. (P.S. Not if you or your housemates are sick though!)
3/ Create a few care packages with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, bottled water, a snack, and a motivational note. You can do this with your kids. Put them in your car trunk and later make a list who might need them or even give to the homeless.
4/ Ask your church or local charities if you can do anything to help. Maybe they are organzing something or you can co-organize.
